About Us

Rainbow Day Care is ideally located in the heart of Hoyland Town Centre. Owned and managed by local sisters, Alison Oldfield and Sue Herbert who have over 35 years’ experience in Early Years Childcare and Business Management.

We offer an exceptional learning experience for children aged 0-5 years and we take pride in our committed approach to delivering excellence in Early Years care and education.

Our open-plan rooms are bright, spacious and provide a calming, yet inspirational environment. The outdoor learning space flows from the open-plan rooms and gives the children the excitement and opportunity to enjoy our mud kitchen area, sandpit and lots of natural materials to explore their own levels of risk by creating their own adventures through balancing and climbing activities. We also have our own vegetable and fruit garden where the children are learning how to plant and grow their own. Our highly experienced and qualified team of Practitioners support each child to explore their own natural curiosity and will extend individual learning needs and interests of your child.

To support those of you who require early start times, we are open 7:30am - 5:30pm, Monday to Friday all year round. Our sessions are structured to offer you a choice of times and wraparound care for both private and government funded children between the ages of 0-5 years old. See our Sessions and Fees page for further details.

We follow strict recruitment procedures to ensure our practitioners are suitable and meet with our high standards. We monitor their suitability closely, and all team members are supported in their individual growth and development through training, coaching, and mentoring.

All Childcare team members are at least Level 3 Qualified as Early Years Practitioners or working towards achieving their Level 3. All staff working on the premises are Paediatric First Aid qualified. All Managers and Senior team members are Designated Safeguarding Leads and all practitioners receive annual training on Safeguarding practice. Each team member is qualified in food hygiene and food allergies training.

We work with the local colleges to support on-site training for students and we have an apprenticeship programme which allows our Apprentice Practitioners to develop and learn through a dedicated programme whilst being mentored and monitored by our highly qualified and experienced practitioners.

If you would like to visit the nursery to meet the team and take a look around, please contact us and we will happily arrange this with you.
